President’s Message

On March 26th, the MDGLCC celebrated 10 years of serving our South Florida community at our annual Gala Awards Celebration in front of a sold out crowd. As part of the festivities, many were recognized for their 10+ years of support to the MDGLCC. Although many of the faces may have changed from the days of Miami Network and the South Beach Business Guild, what has not changed is the need for an LGBT & Allied business networking organization. Those early years of our organization under the thoughtful leadership of David Treece and then Rafael Armada, laid the foundation for what we were to later become one of the largest LGBT business organizations in the country. This could not have transpired without the hard work and support of you, our members, and our board (past and present). Thank you all for supporting the MDGLCC and our wonderful South Florida LGBT Community!

With this our 3rd Annual Pride Edition (expanded to 24 pages, due to demand), we are proud to announce another milestone in our short history… the creation of www.CLARITYMAG.com; the online version of our terrific Chamber Business Magazine. Our friends, Joe and Tana at R+M Collaborative have created a great companion to our print journal; one that will allow us the freedom of providing more story space and longer narratives. The website will also allow more news content and an improved archive of past publications. Make sure to toggle over to CLARITYMAG.com when you get a chance and please let us know what you think. We hope that you will be as supportive of this new venture as you have been with the popular Clarity Business Magazine.

As we look forward, GoGayMiami.com and, the resurrected GayBizMiami.com will be getting a fresh new look to keep up with the rapidly changing business environment here at the MDGLCC. With the opening of our new LGBT Visitor Center (sponsored by Met Life) this past summer, it is important to provide current and leading edge resources for the LGBT Traveler. The new GoGayMiami.com will be that and much more. GayBizMiami.com will replace the current chamber site and, will be chock-full of great business resources including our valuable Members roster. Look for both by this summer.

Happy Pride to all, and have a fantastic and prosperous spring!

Steve Adkins
